better and feel better you will definitely live better. Thus we
have to learn how to improve our odds of not having cancer at
all.

Managing your risk of breast cancer
is 3 a step process
1. Prevention
2.
Early Detection
by self-examination
3. Intervention
By examining your breasts regularly, you will
become familiar with what is normal for your body. By becoming
familiar with what is normal, you will also be able to recognize
changes promptly. Any change should be brought to the attention
of your doctor.
Doing breast
self-exams will help to give you peace of mind each month. But
remember, breast self-exam is only one part of good breast
health care. It is very important that after the age of 40, you
go for a yearly clinical breast exam and mammograms as advised
by your doctor.
Reasons not wanting to do a Breast Self-Examination.
-
Its takes
20 minutes every month and I don't have time
-
Lack of
confidence - don't know
what to feel for
-
Fear
of discovering a lump.
Presently, seventy one million American women do not perform
breast self examinations for a variety of reasons, including lack
of confidence, not knowing what to look for, limited tactile
sensitivity with a bare hand, fear of finding an abnormality,
and discomfort in touching their own breasts.
Although ninety-six percent of women are aware of the
importance of breast self examinations, only twenty-nine percent
perform self-exams on a regular basis.
Are the
above reasons or excuses? Most people don’t do it even though
they know how to do it. In most lumps detected 80% is not cancer
and 20% will be cancer.
